Loving Hands

In the middle of November 2010, twenty women began a monumental and joyous charity project knitting and crocheting scarves, hats and gloves to meet the needs of a poor and needy small West Virginia community, Church of the Assumption in Keyser, WV. This project is still on going. We are also busy making chemo hats, lapghans, that are donated to local nursing homes, hospitals and baby items that are donated to Mary’s Shelter in Stuart as well as to the CCW Birthline Baby Shower. In April 2012 our group began knitting and crocheting prayer shawls. The blessed prayer shawls cannot be sold, they are given to the sick, a wedding celebration, birth of a new life, academic achievement, loss of a loved one or anyone in need of uplifting prayer. These items are made with deep prayer, love and concern and stand as a symbol of our communal support for the one to whom it is given. We meet every Tuesday at 10:00 am in the MCB and anyone wishing to join us is welcome. Our Ministry has grown since its beginning and the ladies not only work on their projects but we have a lot of fun getting together, making new friends, praying together for those experiencing difficult times while doing items that will help those who need it most. Anyone wishing to obtain a prayer shawl for a family member, friend or loved one, or if you would like more information concerning this ministry, please contact Joanne Springer (561-586-3768) or Joyce Costello (561) 742-7183.
